The Legman

The Legman written by Mike Kerr is full of mystery, suspense and crime as Micky a journeyman reporter is on the mysterious trail of scam, scandal, murder and fire. Certainly an enthralling yarn which tells of decisions, hunting for clues, witness reports, letters, racism, the black community against the whites and vice versa. At first I felt the story was a little slow to start, the backstory of the characters are easily understood and can be linked together. Majority of the characters do tell their own story and interactive with others; unfortunately it’s near the end of the book when everything begins to merge and make sense. It is indeed an interesting book which informs readers on the historical aspect of the relationship between two cultures. I pre warn readers that this story might trigger a reaction to swearing, rape, murder and death.

The girl he pined

Paige King – mystery series

The girl he pined – book 1

By Blake Pierce

5 +++

Another great gripping FBI BAU – serial killer mystery. On the edge of the seat reading, a page turner but not ideal for the fast speed reader as any hints or clues might be missed. Paige finds herself hunting down a serial killer, getting deep into his mind she makes the simple mistakes a non-FBI agent would make. I also empathised with both Paige and the killer as I suffered in a similar way; yet while reading and understanding where they’ve come from and how they differ in their actions and different choices they have made. Some sections talk about what they’ve gone through so could trigger readers who might have suffered similar situations. Before, during and after hunting the killer and delving into the killers mind Paige learns to reflect the communication with the killer differently then from her thesis notes. I rather enjoyed reading in the vast depth of learning about the characters, how they feel, what their thinking process is. I received a free copy of the book on behalf of my review which is written in my own personal thoughts.

I found the book a little slow and as I didn’t read book one, it felt like I was missing something important. The storyline is a mystery to me at first, the characters are interesting but I couldn’t quite get a handle on them or a clear picture of what is happening. It was near the end that I began to get more of an understanding. Best to read from the first book.

Never Run

Never Run

A May Moore suspense thriller

Book 1

5+

Another great page turning and edge of the seat suspense thriller. This book does contain content which might effect readers who have suffered any loss or even parental or sibling relationship issues.  Certainly not for a quick reader as you could miss out on the obvious and subtle details that can give readers hints of the suspect or victim or future victims. The feelings and thoughts of those who find the gruesome bodies can be imagined while reading the horrific find. I love the visual effects regarding the background scenery and what the characters are looking at, and going through in each scene. I have an understanding of the relationship May has with her parents and sister; I empathise and comprehend with her thoughts and reactions to how she is treated by them. I am looking forward to reading the next book to find out on how she fares with the relationship between her and her parents and sister and her workmates and boss. I recommend this book to anyone who loves to read suspense thrillers. I advise readers who have been effected by the storyline or characters to please know that it’s just a fictional story, it’s not your personal story and please obtain help if required.

Even though ASH is stated to be a standalone book stated to be a jump-in-spot within the series Warrior Hearts.  I found that reading the other books in order is much easier to obtain an understanding of what the series is about and how the characters which are dire wolf, sabre and dragon shifters are about and where they all fit into their story. The romance aspect of the story is based upon a happy ending which completes the bonding between a couple or trio. Any intimacy which is described is just between two people can be steamy and can be very descriptive so could disturb some readers. I found the plot of A Dire wolf who becomes entangled between two male dragons and I called out aloud to her to seek answers for how she is feeling. I liked on how I was unable to put the book down, while being visually informed by the thoughts, actions and scenery of the characters and where they go. Indeed full of twists and turns with heaps of action which can pull on your heartstrings at certain moments, memories and dreams that they go through to find where they fit into their budding romance and relationships.

Fire book 3 of Warrior Hearts a fated mates shifter romance novel. It is a great stand alone book series to which I chose to read in order even though there’s no need to read in order. I recommend that it is much better to actually read in order so you can fully understand the plot and characters as some characters are carried over into the other books. I do agree with the blurb that the book does delve very slowly into the romance side of the adventure of the couple or trio. This is a story on which I found rather difficult to put down as I was intrigued by the unique friendships and forming relationships. I agree that the story can push some thoughts, emotions and feelings regarding the different types of relationships between the characters. I love that the bond between one of the budding couples alters when Emily’s twin sister arrives on the scene. I was excited to read about the changes of loyalties and emerging changes between the dires werewolves and sabres along with the dragons. It is a unconventional storyline that can be confronting to some readers and definitely not for the faint hearted or sensitive readers. A highly recommended book for mature readers and those who live to read the supernatural type of genre.

The Indecent Agent is the 7th historical novelette based upon suspense espionage character called Adelaide Becket. As I have not read the first 6 books of the Adelaide Becket novelette series I was unable to fully grasp and understand on where the characters fit into the storyline. I highly recommend that this series should be read from book 1. I did find the story intriguing and became interested to see if I could figure out what had previously occurred and what could happen. Expected to find a little romance to occur but really enjoyed to find out what might have caused a rift in the friendship and if it could be repaired. An interesting ending not exactly a cliffhanger but leaves me interested in learning what happens next in the series. Definitely a historical espionage novelette series to read.

Storm book 2 of stand alone book series about saber weres  and other supernatural characters who work together against the dire weres. A great interesting and intriguing book with a storyline which embraces a few twists and turns keeping a reader on the edge of the seat and certainly hard to put down. A supernatural romantic story whose characters are slowly embracing their intimate relationships while protecting their pack from predators who are set to take the women for themselves. I enjoyed the way characters, settings, the actions and conversations between the characters as they are described in a way that as a reader I felt that I was alongside them. There’s certain events that occur in the story which can effect readers who suffered from a similar traumatic event. The type of relationships stated within the story might irritate some readers.

Kitani a Sabre shapeshifter is an untrained hunter warrior but as she’s unmated young single female she is hunted by the dire’ s. Hopefully she will outwit them to be with her fated bond males. I rather enjoyed reading the story, I was intrigued from the beginning. Therefore , I couldn’t put the book down at all, it was extremely difficult to do but had to or the kids would starve and fend for themselves. ICE is certainly a page turner, on the edge of your seat type of book. Many different characters with different skill sets which somehow they linked in well with each other; this gave me an understanding of how they connected together in their relationships. Some well described scenery which I could envision where they were going and what the animals looked like. I liked the way the characters were described by a characters thoughts. Great descriptions of emotions and feelings which characters are portraying and how others may see themselves or others. The plot and storyline has the right amount of twists and turns and an ending which encourages me to read more of the authors books. An ideal page length, and I was enraptured with fascination which kept my attention. Certainly a recommended book for readers who love to read this urban fantasy genre.

The Marquess’s Adventurous Miss

“THE MARQUESS’S ADVENTUROUS MISS

An Oxford Set Novel, Book One

        5 + Stars

A quick and certainly not for a speed reader type of read. I very much enjoyed reading about a almost love at first sight story between two people. The Marquess set on obtaining his daughter back and didn’t expect extra baggage along with his daughter. Certain characters reminded me of my own siblings and at first I wanted to put the book down but knew the story is not about them but fictional. I am amazed on how a person’s reputation could be ruined by stories gossiped in the ton whereas in today’s timeline someone’s reputation is not cared about. I am glad that the couple fought for their love of each other to become a loving family.
