What The Silent Say

by Emerson Ford

Description

Inspired by a remarkable true story and brought to life in cinematic detail, an unforgettable tale of courage, sacrifice, and the unbreakable bonds of family.

General Fiction (Adult), Historical Fiction, Women’s Fiction

5 stars

A young woman finds some old letters which first dates before her birth. The letters send readers back in time just before, during and after WWII. I now have found another genre that I like to read about and it’s about romance, relationships, friendships and war. I rather enjoyed reading the old letters which described the family, relationships and life in general. I’m amazed on how the author Emerson Ford had brought the characters to life and each character was able to tell their story through the letters and characters around them. Some sections are very emotional with happiness, anger and sadness. I love the book and recommend to others to read but could be triggering to those who might have experienced similar in life.

The Mandeville Curse by Callie Langridge is a unique story of three families joined together via their great grandparents and grandparents. It was very interesting to read as the stories are connected together. I enjoyed reading how the past and present are connected and the past and present are shared within the story. Both parts gives the reader certain hints of how they are connected and how the supposed curse is applied.

Strong Heart, Sharp Mind

The 6-Step Brain-Body Balance Program that Reverses Heart Disease and Helps Prevent Alzheimer’s with a Foreword by Dr. Michael F. Roizen

by Joseph C. Piscatella; Marwan Noel Sabbagh

Strong Hearts and Strong Minds is a text written for those in mind who wish to keep their hearts and minds sharp and strong. I read the first couple of chapters and felt that it was a little too much for me to keep reading due to the medical jargon. I was a little confused and overwhelmed by what they were talking about. It’s an ideal book for those who wish to learn on how to keep their hearts strong and mind sharp and active. I agree with the authors that if something concerns you about your health, heart and mind consult your doctor.

The Family Lies

The Family Ties by Angela Henry is a little slow and confusing at first. It’s intriguing, sitting on the edge of the seat thrilling book along with twists and turns, red herrings and difficult to put down. The book content does indeed reflect the title of the book. The content is full of family lies and stories while a confusing romance is budding. It’s close to the ending of when the real action begins and the clues and hints revealed in earlier chapters are beginning to make sense. A book recommended for readers who love to read mystery and thriller with a touch of love and romance

City of Fear

City of Fear book 2 an Ava Gold Mystery

Blake Pierce

5 star rating

Ava Gold a newly appointed Detective in the Womens department of the NYPD is looking into the murder of a young woman. Ava is a strong woman, who knows her own mind and goes out of her way to figure out what happened. It doesn’t matter if the victim is from the poor or rich side of town, Ava treats them with respect but also knows how to fight her way out of situations. These situations could be needing her quick wit or thinking even with her fists or feet. The book is not for the quick reader as you might miss out some much needed information. Full of twists and turns, clues leading to other issues, red hearings or dead ends. Edge of the seat thrilling until the end, with a slight cliffhanger leading to the next Ava story.
